The Lonach Gathering |
The Lonach Gathering (an annual Clan Gathering held at Strathdon in the Highlands of Scotland) has been celebrated since 1822 and is as synonymous with Scottish history and tradition as Single Malt Whisky.
In celebration of the Gathering, the Lonach range of exceptional single malt whiskies represents a collection of some of the finest whiskies from Scotland’s leading malt whisky distilleries.
The Lonach Gathering is traditionally held on the fourth Saturday in August. |

The Lonach Highland and Friendly Society was founded to commemorate the majority of John Forbes, son of the first baronet in 1822.
The Lonach day begins with a march by the men of Lonach in full Highland dress, the marches route passes by the patrons of the gathering and it is customary that those on the march receive a dram from each of the main households they stop at.
The mass of marching men stop at several houses including Candacraig the home of one of Scotlands most famous sons Billy Connolly.

The Games known as the Friendly games follow on from the completion of the march, with many athletes competing in the traditional events such as Heavy hammer and caber tossing to bagpipe playing and highland dancing.
The events come to a close with the Lonach grand dance and a wee dram of the Lonach Single Malt should be just the thing to get the dance going. A range of fine single malts distilled in the traditional timehonoured style a fitting tribute to the traditional highland games.
