Our latest Octave Premium release is from the dead distillery Caperdonich and was distilled in 1992 and is bottled at 28 Years Old.

Distillery background:

Caperdonich was built in 1897 by James Grant and was originally called Glen Grant Number Two. It closed in 1902

after the Pattison Crash and did not open for another 63 years.

In 1965, according to the law at the time two distilleries could not bear the same name so the distilleries name was

changed to Caperdonich, after the Caperdonich spring from where it takes its water. Glen Grant and Caperdonich

were originally connected by a pipe high above the road which was known locally as the “whisky pipe”. The distillery

was rebuilt and two more stills where added in 1967.

The distillery was mothballed in 1992 and then demolished in 2010.

BEFORE Tasting Notes:

Colour: Pale Gold.

Nose: Ginger bread, red apples and a hint of black pepper.

Palate: Distinct herbal notes with menthol and butter biscuits. Tropical fruits, sweet pink grapefruit emerging with a lovely waxiness.

Finish: More tropical fruits and sweet oak lingering.

AFTER Tasting Notes:

Colour: Old Gold.

Nose: A picnic basket full of fresh forest fruits, green apples in honey syrup, light cool mint and some spicy olive oil. Very fresh and well

balanced.

Palate: A creamy, fruity, peppery attack, lemon drops, ripe stone fruits, peaches, plums and gooseberries. Hints of butterscotch caramel,

yet all a little sweet and sour like an old dry sherry.

Finish: Long and lingering, crystallised ginger and masses of fruit, lightly acidic fresh rhubarb, very juicy. A great fruity Speysider.
