Distillery background:

Chivas Brothers founded the distillery in 1957. It was built on the site of an old meal mill on the bank of the River Isla.

Glen Keith was originally set up with three stills; a wash still, a low wines still and a spirit still. This practice continued

until 1970 when two further stills were added which were gas fired, the first of its kind in Scotland. The original Saladin

box maltings were decommissioned in 1976. In 1980 microprocessors were installed to control mashing, milling

and distilling. A technical centre and laboratory were added later. A sixth still was installed in 1983.

The distillery was mothballed in 2000; and changed into Pernod Ricard’s hands in 2001 after they acquired Chivas

Brothers from Seagram’s. The distillery was reopened in 2013.
