The winners of the World Whiskies Awards 2019 were announced at the Whisky Magazine Awards Dinner in London on Thursday 28th March. We are delighted to report that Black Bull 10 Year Old Rum Finish won Best Scotch Blended Limited Release.

What they said: "Nose of biscuit-like pastry and fresh black cherries. A little sour, some nail varnish and quite alcoholic. The palate has lemon drops, honey, icing sugar and a melt in your mouth texture. Warming finish with more vanilla, shortbread fingers and a pleasing subtlety."

Black Bull 10 Year Old Rum Finish is a unique blend of the finest single malt and single grain Scotch whiskies. Like all Black Bull whiskies, it has been crafted without compromise by our master blender at an unusually high malt-to-grain ratio and bottled at a robust 50% ABV.

The Black Bull 10 Year Old has been finished for a period of 16 months in ex-rum casks from Brazil, Barbados, Jamaica, Guatemala, Guadeloupe and Fiji.

What we say: "A rich and delightful aroma with tropical notes of coconut and passion fruit and crisp candy floss, grassy on the palate with notes of grapefruit and apples covered with a creamy sweetness and topped with a hint of mint. More fruit and mint on the finish balanced with a hint of vanilla oakiness. Mouth coating and moreish."

With roots going back to 1864, Black Bull Blend was the very first 100-proof blend. The rich history and robust flavour profile of the Black Bull line was responsible for its rise to prominence, particularly in the United States after the repeal of Prohibition in 1933.
